We've been documenting love and helping couples save their memories since 2016 and so far we've photographed more than 350 weddings & elopements all around Costa Rica and abroad.

1- How long have you been photographing weddings?

2- What kind of weddings do you normally photograph?

If we could describe our photography we'll say we are storytellers with a little bit of a romantic vibe and editorial mood. We truly do love candid real-life moments, we really enjoy documenting the vibe of your day without adding artificial ingredients, just capturing moments as they naturally unfold, eventually providing gentle and natural directions during portrait times so you can have an idea of what can be done. We want you to spend your day having fun not posing for photos every single second, we love all those emotions full of spontaneous laughs and corky dances that naturally happen during every wedding or couple session, so don’t be shy, bring it all on and we’ll be ready to capture that.

3- How would you describe your photography approach?

Yes, we do. But if for any reason we are not available for your date or we can't make it because of a mayor emergency we have a great team of associated photographers that knows perfectly what we are looking for in our photos, so you can be sure you will get the Raw Shoots experience no matter what. In that cases we'll still be doing the culling, editing and all the previous and post work for your day.

4- Do you guys always shoot together?

We are really easy-going people, and avoid all the awkward and cheese moments, we really want you to think of us more like two "tico-friends" with cameras than actual photographers, we feel that people get much more comfortable this way and we can capture much more genuine moments. During your day, we love to capture all the unscripted moments and how you and your guests really felt. During your couple session, we will just give you some natural directions so you guys can get an idea and be in the mood this way you will bring out your personality and start showing us all those real laughs and emotions.

6- What would it be working with you?

Our couples are the best!! In a few words our couples love photos and want great memories without compromising the natural flow of the day, if you care more about real, candid and emotional photos and care less about the clean dress, staged/perfect hair images, we are going to be a perfect fit. We are not looking for perfection on every single image, we are looking for the real you, the one that enjoys the day to the max without worrying of drops of water or some dorky smiles.

7- What kind of couples do you normally work with?

We do, and we love them. Sometimes couples like to visit the location and check the venue and details several months before their wedding takes place, and that is a great chance to do photos, or we can meet in another place you love or want to visit. You can use these photos for invites or to show them during the wedding or just to have a lovely memory from your trip. One popular idea is to do a shoot the day before the wedding in a nearby or favorite place, we normally take 1.5h during the sunset and shoot some casual and nice photos of you two, it is very nice because it gives more story to the wedding celebration and you can have a more relaxed, confident and enjoyable experience during the wedding day.

8- Do you offer engagement/couple sessions?

Totally, we will help you out all the way since the beginning.

In order to capture lovely pictures you need to enjoy the moment, be confident and have fun with us, as we said, we are really easy-going people so we’ll not make you feel uncomfortable or awkward, instead, well guide you with little tips to get these lovely moments between you two, by the end of the shoot you'll feel like a pro without even thinking about it.

For couple/engagement photos we normally take a couple of hours, most of the time by the end of the afternoon so we can get the best light, we don’t like to rush things out, so we want you to take your time, enjoy it and laugh. It’s not just about shooting and shooting pictures, it’s also about knowing you so we can get the most genuine side of you.

For wedding portraits, the ideal for us is a minimum of 30min, this way you won’t feel so stressed and can take things slow and nice, during this time we want you to enjoy it and to be stress-free, take a break from all the rush of the wedding and have this time for you two, realize what just happened, and share your feelings and love.

9- This will be our first time doing a photo session, so this might feel awkward to us, will you give us a hand?

Our Collections starts with 3h for elopements and up to 10h or more for weddings with a lot of activities, each of our Collections includes: two full-time photographers all day, a exclusive Wedding Guide (you will love this!!), web and high resolutions images ( yes!!, we don’t charge you extra for HQ images), a print credit to order prints, a one year of private online gallery that you can share with your friends and family, and also includes our transportation and accommodation to your wedding location in Costa Rica so you don’t have to worry about any extra payment, we’ll take care of making all the arrangements.

We also include a pre-wedding consultation video call, to talk about your plans, ideas, suggestions and the most important part, to meet you!

Besides this, we also offer extra coverage events like engagement/couple sessions, boat trips, rehearsal dinner, day after wedding session, in case you need it.

10- What do you include in your Wedding Collections?

Yes we do, and it's something we love to do. After we download everything in the computer we start the culling process and after that we take each photo one by one doing the color correction and editing, you can be sure that each photo you are receiving was carefully reviewed by us.

11- Do you edit all the photos?

We try to keep our editing simple and real to the scene, we adjust color, shadows, sharpening, white balance, curves depending on each photo. However, our service doesn’t include Photoshoping/altering things, animals or humans, If you’re especially self conscious about something, please let us know in advance and we’ll be extra aware of that while we’re shooting. If for any reason you need some of this advance editing, we can add it as an extra per image; the value of this depends on how complex is the job, in case there is a heavy Photoshoping belong our possibilities, we can recommend you some great people that do this kind of job after our photos are delivered.

12- How is your editing? Can you Photoshop us?

Yes, we do, we love black and white in some of the images, we feel that B&W images are timeless and nostalgic, so having a few in our final delivery is something that we normally do.

13- Do you deliver images in black and white?

It definitely varies! For weddings, it depends on your coverage, but in most cases it average between 500-1200. It’s hard to tell the exact number because it will depend on a lot of things, such as available light, timing, activities, amount of guests and even the interactions and personalities, we try to stick with a minimum of 75 per hour, but it can go higher than that very easily if the conditions allow it.

For couples sessions/engagements, average 100-200.

Not to worry though, we never leave anything out and will include plenty of photos of everything we capture. You will get anything and everything that meets our standards!

16- How many images will we receive?

Once the images are totally edited, we will upload the photographs to a private online gallery that you will have access with an exclusive password, from this gallery you will be able to download the full gallery or individual images in High Resolution or Web Optimized, also you can order prints and or use a print credit from a professional printing lab in the USA and ship these photographs to your home in just a few days.

17- How do we receive the photographs?

Sure you can, it is really important for us that you see as much as you can of our work so you can have a complete idea of what we can deliver and what you can expect from our work, don’t hesitate to check our blog entries or to ask us for private galleries so you can get a good idea of what and how we shoot weddings.

18- Can we see a full wedding that you photographed?

19- Can we provide you with a “shot list”?

Because we are more into the documentary style, we don’t really work with "shot lists" upfront, but as you can see in our galleries we take care of details, candid shots and all the key moments. There is one list that we really appreciate and is a small list of people for the “formal portraits”, you know the ones with parents, grandparents, close friends, etc., two tips that helps a lot is make everyone aware that they are needed for photos at certain time and to tell one of your friends to help to call the people for each shot, this is basically because for us it will be very hard to know who is who and it can take longer, but telling a friend to help with this will speed up the process a lot.

Absolutely, we love wedding details and we are sure you love them too. It is a shame spending so much money and time and not having memories of the details that you choose for this day. We usually start taking all sorts of story telling shots including scene setting photos, shots of the road, nature, textures, the outsides of buildings or rooms before the guests have arrived, shots that tell more of the story of what the day felt like, what the weather was like, etc. During the getting ready, we start with bridal details (dress, shoes, rings, jewelry, invitation, gifts, etc.) and groom details (suit, shoes, watch, cuff links, etc.). There are lots of venue details and also those of the ceremony and reception. If there is any special detail that you would like us to pay more attention we always encourage you to let us know so we can pay special care to it.

20- Do you shoot wedding details and decor?

Not shooting in a venue before is not a problem for us, sometimes we have and other times we haven’t, but that’s ok! we have been to a lot of venues in Costa Rica and abroad, and if we haven’t been to one before, we always do a previous research and scout the place with advance, if its possible we go the day before or early during the wedding day to check out potential locations and see how the light behaves and put on the list the nicest spots so we can be confident and take the most of it.

21- What if you haven’t been to my venue, does this affect the workflow somehow?

Please! this is the best way to keep us happy shooting photos =( for the main meal it is ideal to do it at the same time when you two eat. This way we don’t have to worry about missing anything such as speeches, first dance or any other activity that might happen right after dinner. When you’re done, we’re done too and ready to keep shooting.

22- Do you guys need to eat on the wedding day?

23- Do you guys do video?

We focus on photography, but we have a partnership with one of the top wedding videographers in Costa Rica and if you are considering to have video don't hesiate to let us know, we have a perfect Photo + Video Collection for you.

Of course, you can find all sorts of amazing and talented individuals, from wedding planners, flower designers, officiants, rentals, makeup artists, etc. Don’t hesitate to ask us if you need some assistance getting in touch with them.

24- Do you have wedding vendors that you can recommend us?

We’ll really love to do that, but we can’t promise to do it without a retainer and signed contract. To be fair with all our couples, we work on a first-come/first-served basis.

25- Can you hold a date for us?

26- Do we need to sign a contract?

Yes we do, in there you will have everything that is included and some other info regarding our service such as payment plans, delivery, limitations, cancelations, etc.

27- What are the payment terms?

For weddings and elopements we require 30% retainer to secure your date, and the remaining 70% is due one month before the wedding date. If it's a couple session or other service we require a 50% retainer to secure the date and the remaining 50% is due the day of the shoot.

All our reservation payments are non-refundable, the reason of this it's because once you book us we reserve that day exclusively for you and we turn down any other inquiry for that day.

28- Is the reservation fee refundable?

In normal terms (non-pandemic), if you’ve already put a deposit down to exclusively reserve the date and then have to move/cancel it, the deposit is legally non-refundable and a new deposit will have to be made in order to hold your new date. During the COVID-19 pandemic this policy changed and we are offering flexibility with reschedules for weddings affected directly by the pandemic, if you need more information about this regarding this, please visit our COVID-19 page on our website.

29- What if we need to cancel or reschedule our wedding?

This was a total hit to us and to everyone related to this industry, so in order to make things a little more easy we put together a really nice COVID-19 informative page in our website where you will find some very nice info about how we are handling this and our safety measures.

30- How are you handling things related with COVID-19?

31- We’ll love to have a video call, is this possible?

Absolutely, we’ll love to do that too, for us is very veryyyyy important that you meet us in advance, this way when we meet in person you will not feel awkward having us around taking pictures of you like flying mosquitos. We want you to see us more as friends that shoots nice photos than as a "professional photographer" so having this video call will help a lot to get to know each other and break the ice.

32- How many hours do you think we'll need?

It all depends on how many and what kind of activities you will have during the day, our 6h package normally covers: getting ready, ceremony, family & friend portraits, newlywed portraits and a bit of the reception activities, the 8h package (the most popular) covers: getting ready, ceremony, family & friend portraits, newlywed portraits and a good part or the full reception, if you are thinking on having a first look, it can fit with the 8h package too. The 10h package it's perfect for longer weddings with lots of activities around the day.

34- What will be your final advice if we want to get the most out of our wedding photography?

Enjoy the day!!! Having a good timeline will be awesome, is not that you have to stick to it, but it will help a lot to the flow of everything, having a good timeline will make the day so smooth and nice, and by planning, we also mean think about delays that could eventually happen (so leave some little gaps just in case). Check when is the sunset by the time of the year you are planning your event and prioritize what photographs are most important to you, then dedicate enough time to make sure they happen. Remember, in photography, everything is about lighting, if we have good light you can bet your photographs will be amazing. Also one final tip is to enjoy your trip, destination weddings are wonderful, if you need some help planning some extra wedding activities, don't hesitate to contact our friends from Huellas Travel, they can plan your trip and take you to awesome adventures.
